Canada will follow Australia to ask giants such as Facebook to pay for news
Australia’s newly introduced news media payment regulations force Internet platforms such as Facebook and Google to pay for news media that provide content, otherwise they will face fines.
This regulation has been passed by a vote in the House of Representatives not long ago.
In response to this policy, Facebook decided to prohibit users from posting links to Australian news media on the platform.
Now, the Canadian government intends to follow the example of Australia and require platforms to pay news publishers.
