Report: Next generation iPhone and iPad will use titanium alloy: Apple is preparing

According to DigiTimes, Apple is considering using titanium alloys to make iPad casings to replace the current aluminum alloy casings on iPads. Last month, there were rumors that the 2022 iPhone will also use titanium alloy materials.

Recently, Apple has applied for many patents related to titanium alloy casings. In the future, devices that may use titanium alloy include MacBook , iPad and iPhone. Compared with stainless steel, titanium alloys are harder and more resistant to scratches.

However, the strength of titanium also makes it difficult to etch. Therefore, Apple has developed a sandblasting, etching and chemical process that can give the titanium shell a high-gloss surface treatment, making it more attractive. Apple has also been studying the use of thin oxide surface coatings to deal with the problem of fingerprints.

In fact, there was news before that Apple has begun preparing the next generation of iPhone, and this model will be released in 2022, one of the highlights is that the body material is titanium alloy.

However, some people in the industry said that Apple’s consistent approach is that radical upgrades will first test the water on the iPad, and then move to the iPhone without any problems, so this rule will not be changed easily.
